Terror Info
After spawning, the Overseer will create a red mist and change the music. Overseer cannot be stunned but can be clashed.
Overseer has debuffs that only it can apply;
- Hemorrhage - Exclusive to Overseer. A combination of Bleed and Weakness; stopping HP regeneration, causing the player to take more damage based on potency, and dealing a burst of damage once it has run out based on the potency. Hemorrhage, like Bleed, will stack and increase potency if inflicted multiple times, resulting in final damage being worse as well as increasing the percentage of extra damage inflicted on hit. Additionally, potency will increase the duration of Hemorrhage and slow players down when a player gains Hemorrhage stacks. Hemorrhage potency will cap at 100 as opposed to Bleed’s maximum of 20. At 100 Hemorrhage, players instantly die. Hemorrhage can be cleared / replaced with items or by other debuff, however, debuff-based elites will not override hemorrhage.
- Gaze - Inflicted when taking any damage from any source while Overseer is active, and is separate from other debuffs, instead indicated by a counter on players UI. Used by a specific attack to calculate damage, and can only stack up to 30. Can only be removed by Scream, Judgement, Resolve, or by dying.
Overseer will make its way towards the player at a moderate pace. If it has not met a player after enough time, it will speed up a bit; but will slow back down after using any melee attack. Overseer can use its ranged attacks at any time.
- Contact - While walking, Overseer can damage players with its steps, causing them to be slowed, knocked back and dealt low damage.
- Swipe - When near a player, it can swipe with either of its arms; inflicting low damage and knockback, as well as inflicting Hemorrhage.
- Return - Overseer raises its arm and swiftly attacks random players with many thorns that fire out of the ground, locking them in place and dealing low damage and Hemorrhage rapidly. Then, the player is pulled into a portal under them and reappears in front of the Overseer.
- Tower - Overseer summons a tower-like object under players chosen at random; which deals moderate damage and bump players when appearing. They will remain as obstacles for the rest of the round.
Once any player has reached 15 Gaze, Overseer will transition into its second phase; sprouting six thorny tendrils and screaming; shifting its posture into a more animalistic form & breaking its head open. Overseer itself also gains an aura around itself; and can no longer used ranged attacks at any distance. The music will also progress to its second part.
Overseer will now alternate between two behaviors. The first behavior will use the following;
- Scream - Only used when transitioning from the first phase to the second, Overseer lets out a long loud shriek, slowing all players down who hear it and inflicting rapid Hemorrhage and dealing very low damage to all nearby players.
- Thorns - Six vine-like tendrils will follow behind and randomly attack nearby players indiscriminately, dealing low damage and doubling the players current Hemorrhage potency on hit, else inflicting 5 if they don’t have any. Thorns also slightly pull players towards the Overseer on hit. These also inflict Laceration.
- Swipes - Retained from first phase, however are now used in twos and have many more variants. Swipes can also end with a ground slam, bumping players and dealing moderate damage as well as stopping Overseer for a moment.
- Return Slam - Replaces the default Return. Overseer slams the ground angrily and screams, inflicting Hemorrhage rapidly to nearby players and creating a large shockwave around himself dealing moderate damage to all players and inflicting Hemorrhage. Meanwhile, random players will be attacked with many thorns that fire out of the ground, locking them in place and dealing low damage and Hemorrhage rapidly. Then, the player is pulled into a thorn-like structure under them and reappears in front of the Overseer.
- Stomp - Overseer stomps and creates a large area of sludge and thorns in front of him slowing players down significantly, dealing moderate damage and Hemorrhage as well as bumping players in the area. This also sends out multiple rock projectiles, similar to that of Chomper’s catapult, dealing moderate damage and slowing players.
- Leap - Overseer leaps a short distance, moving very quickly and then slamming into the ground releasing sludge after, dealing heavy damage and slowing players down.
When swapping behaviors, Overseer will clutch its head, then begin charging on all fours, losing its aura and beginning to bleed. Overseer will speed up significantly during this.
- Thorns - Will no longer target players.
- Thrashing - Overseer will be constantly attacking while it charges, dealing low damage and Hemorrhage to players it hits. Players will also receive Arrival Infection being hit by it.
- Collapse - While charging, it may stop collapse for a moment, dealing moderate damage to players it lands on and bumping nearby players, as well as sending sludge everywhere.
- Scream, Judgement, Resolve - Once it has finished this behavior, it will raise itself up high and let out a scream damaging players nearby, and fire a projectile into the sky, creating a massive shockwave and raining down projectile rain that damages all players globally rapidly based on the amount of Gaze they have and also inflicts Hemorrhage. This attack bypasses protection and does also inflict Gaze on hit. Players with less than 5 Gaze will take no damage and avoid it entirely, but will still be slowed by it. Once this attack has finished, Gaze is cleared among all players and it will transition back to its first behavior.
Trivia
- Holding Have Plush will cap the players maximum Gaze at 15; even if the player had over 15 gaze when obtaining it.
- Overseer’s redesign is inspired by Four Hundred Roses from Limbus Company, which is where its music also originates from.
- Overseer’s redesign is also inspired by the Eidolon Teralyst from Warframe; which is also where a lot of its sound effects come from.
- Overseer’s reliance on status effects is also inspired by Limbus Company’s abnormality fights.
- Overseer as it appears in Star of the Show is much more degraded than its original appearance. This lines up with the other seers, but though it can be noted it is much more severe than the others and more sludge-like, which is due to the removal of his light. Overseer also appears to still have its wings it gains after encountering Twilight in Terrors of Nowhere; though they are fused to its flesh.
- Overseer’s parasite can be seen unfusing from its head, particularly the parasite's legs off the bottom. Additionally, the thorn-like tendrils in 2nd phase belong to the parasite itself.
- It’s possible to avoid the Gaze clear from Scream, Judgement, Resolve by using i-frames such as Metal Bat.
- Overseer was dethroned shortly after the events of Collab 5 by The Host, stealing the light Overseer had stolen from Monarch and returning it to him.
- Monarch was given the opportunity to kill the Overseer by The Host as a show of respect for the tortured lord, however, Monarch instead asked for the Overseer to be banished into the thorn to suffer eternally.
- It’s likely the Overseer lost most of the memories it made during the events of ToN after the light was removed from it, making Overseer nothing but a mindless shell of what it once was.
