Terror Info

After spawning, Mousetrap will chase the closest player to them at a below average pace, creating a hazy fog. Dusty rotting particles will also appear around all players now as well. Mousetrap cannot be stunned, but can be clashed.

Mousetrap will swipe at players close to them, dealing moderate damage.

After 20 seconds, Mousetrap will stop and begin bleeding profusely. Mousetrap will slump to the ground and a small cutscene of Mousetrap will begin to play. The cutscene also causes all terrors to become frozen. After this happens, all players will have parts of the springlock animatronic suit placed on their hands, legs, and heads. These will remain attached to players for the rest of the round.

The springlock pieces will occasionally begin shaking while the player is doing a specific action related to each piece. Any type of damage is also able to trigger the shaking phase sometimes; though damage cannot set them off. When a springlock is shaking and is about to go off, there will be text appearing on screen frantically begging for the player to stop it. Players must restore the integrity of the springlock piece to make it stop shaking and safe again; which may take a few seconds as restoration is not instantaneous.

If a piece shakes for too long, it will fail, dealing heavy damage, reduce their max HP by 33, and inflict a handicap depending on the piece it was.

  • Head
Looking around too fast will cause the mask over the player's head to begin shaking and creaking, eventually snapping shut if not dealt with. Keeping your head still will restore its integrity. If it snaps, it causes a permanent overlay of the mask on the player's vision, removes HP regeneration, and inflicts a permanent fog similar to blindness or Penumbra.
  • Arms
Holding an item for too long or activating an item will cause the arm plates to begin shaking and creaking, eventually snapping shut if not dealt with. Dropping your item will begin repairs on them. If they snap, it causes players to be unable to hold items, damaging players when trying.
  • Legs
Moving for too long will cause the leg plates to begin shaking and creaking, eventually snapping shut if not dealt with. Crouching will repair them. If they snap, it causes players to have halved movement speed.

If all three parts snap shut, the player will instantly die from having no HP. However, if the player has Lifeblood Elixir, they can survive a full springlock. If the player is Scavenger, they will have reduced HP taken from them; however the same rules apply. This will also bypass revives, as the springlock suit is not reset upon reviving causing death again.

Mousetrap will also now begin chasing players at a much higher speed, bleeding profusely with red glowing eyes and very loud footsteps. When reaching a player, Mousetrap will now grab them and execute them by piercing them with their hand and ripping out their insides; dealing enough to instantly kill them and bypassing protection.

After around another 100 seconds, Mousetrap will enter its final phase; changing the music and one last cutscene with a short monologue.

After this, player's springlocks will be made much more difficult, requiring almost immediate action and multiple parts can be affected at once, and it is generally inevitable that they will snap. Mousetrap will speed up slightly. Mousetrap also will duplicate themselves 4 times; all the duplicates spawning at random thorns around the map, acting mostly the same as phase 2 Mousetrap; grabbing players and dealing enough to instantly kill them. The duplicates patrol towards players, occasionally randomly locking onto them, and have a more faded appearance.

Trivia

  • Mousetrap is inspired by TWIDDLEFINGER thematically.
  • Mousetrap is also inspired by Stuffed Otto from Spookys Jumpscare Mansion+.
  • Mousetrap’s cutscene is inspired by The Laugh from Midnight Horrors.
  • Mousetrap’s name is not only a reference to Springtrap, but also refers to actual mouse traps, used for catching mice.
  • Mousetrap’s arm and leg components will not appear visually on players if they are not using a humanoid avatar; but still will take effect. This can make it hard to tell if it is shaking; so it’s recommended using a humanoid avatar.
  • Players can see each other's springlock suits and also see when another player's suit malfunctions.
  • It’s implied the voice talking to players when a springlock is about to go off is the player/avatar themselves, suggesting that they are begging the user to not let them die. This is similar to how Fear’s visuals are, which further suggests players are not actually themselves.
